Tue., May 15-Eccl./F451; preparation for Huntington trip-DVD and possible quiz

Wed., May 16-Be in upper lot before 7:30--all school rules apply: tardies; dress code, gum, eating in wrong area (bus, museum, etc.), and bring sack lunch.  Arrive back at 3:30.  This trip is worth 100 homework points which will have to be made up whether or not you have an excused absence.

Thurs., May 17-All books F451 Assignment due up to break in page 32

Fri., May 19-L29 & 30 Vocab Test; Lit Terms 51-60 (add "conceit" as #60--this is not the conceit that means being stuck up)  F451 and Eccl. (always!)

Mon., May 7-V29 ; textbook: "The Red Wheelbarrow" p. 734 # 1-5 and "This Is Just to Say" p. 735 #1-6.  Due: main questions on Faulkner's Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech; receive permission slips for the Huntington Library field trip.

Tues,, May 8-Unit Test; bring text and Gatsby to study for timed write on Wed. Turn in permission slips.  Both sides signed if riding with chaperone.

Wed., May 9-Timed write on:The Great Gatsby and "Winter Dreams": compare/contrast the themes, characters, and plots.   Bring pre-write notes if you make them.  You will not use them during the write. Please check PASS today.

Thurs., May 10-bring Fahrenheit 451 (F451)and Ecclesiastes

Fri., May 11-L29 and Lit. Terms 41. - 50.; textbook. 

Bring F451 and Ecclesiastes every day.

If you missed L27 & 28 vocab test last Friday you must take it before Friday at 3:00.

Next week we are going to the Huntington Library in San Marino on Wed., May 16.  We will leave early (7:30).  If I have one chaperone for every ten students we can go back onto the grounds after our docent-led tours and see the galleries and the gardens.  I only have 45 students, but I have to have at least four chaperones.  If we don't have chaperones, we will return before school is over and attend seventh period; if we do have chaperones, we will return after school gets out (4:00).  Students riding with a parent other than their own will have to have both sides of their permission slip signed before the morning of the trip.

Field Trip, Wednesday, May 16, 2012: meet in upper parking lot and leave at 7:30 and return around 4:00.  This is worth 100 points.  I need about four more chaperones (or we can't go back onto the grounds after our tour).

Mon., Apr. 30-V28; bring textbook to start work on Lit. Terms 31. to 40. (Get caught up on any you have missed and I suggest you start also typing the ones you have already written now).

Bring summaries of the last six stanzas of "Renascence."  Bullet points are fine, but you must write at least one good sentence for each stanza.

Tues., May 1-TGG 8 & 9-10 Q/A's with page numbers (Five per chapter)

Wed., May 2-Textbook assignment in class "Winter Dreams" 

Thurs., May 3-Text: finish "Winter Dreams"

Fri., May 4-L27 &28 Vocab Test; Quiz on Lit. Terms 31. to 40; I will give historical background (print your own worksheet seen in attachment.

Purchase Fahrenheit 451 if you have not done so.

If you did not take the quiz on "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," do p. 613 #1-11 and turn them in ASAP.

Huntington Library Trip Wed., May 16 worth 100 points I will need at least four chaperones if we are to go back onto the grounds after our tour.

Mon., Apr. 23-V27; textbook: bring late literary terms, definitions and examples; The Great Gatsby Read "Renascence" in class--questions due Thurs., Apr. 26

If you have not done so already, turn in hardcopy of your final draft of Worldview Huck Finn paper.  You will not receive a grade until I have hardcopy and turnitin.com. Points will be counted off each day it is late.

Tues., Apr. 24-The Great Gatsby IV & V: bring 10 questions/answers with page numbers--five each chapter.

Wed., Apr. 25-Textbook:  and in-class assignment

Thurs., Apr. 26-Textbook: "Renascence" p. 751 #1-13

Fri., Apr. 27-L27  (I will not read the words to you)  and quiz on terms  21.-30.; The Great Gatsby VI & VII: bring 10 Q/A's (five per chapter) with page numbers, five questions each chapter. 

Last week we read "In Another Country" and took a quiz.  If you missed the quiz, you need to read the story and answer the main questions (before Tues. if you want that grade to go up on PASS.)  The week before that we read "Sophistication" which has not been entered yet.  If you have not done the questions, you need to do so by the end of the week.

If you missed L 25&26 Vocab Test, you have until Friday at 3:00 to make it up or it will become a ZERO unless there are extenuating circumstances.

You will receive an extra GET OUT OF JAIL FREE pass which will enable you to turn HOMEWORK in ONE day late. 

When you have an excused absence, you only have two days to make up missed work.

If you have a school activity (for instance, a game), you need to turn your work in BEFORE you leave unless you leave before school starts.

Thurs., Apr.19-The Great Gatsby Ch. 1-3: Write 10 Q/A's with page numbers.  Turn inHuck Finn Worldview final draft before midnight.

Fri., Apr. 20-L25 & 26 vocab test; literary terms 21. - 30. due (these were actually due last week and were on the board all week).  Textbook; bring hardcopy of worldview paper along with typed rough draft, timed write, and  journal, Do not staple your final draft to the other parts.

Always bring Ecclesiastes and The Great Gatsby

Notice field trip coming up in May.  It will be worth 100 points.  I need a few chaperones--maybe four.

Mon., Apr. 9-Comp Book; V25; text; receive Ecclesiastes packet.  You will need YOUR packet for the final.  You will not use your Bible or another person's packet.  You will take notes on this packet and turn it in with your final.  Bring it every day.  If you lose it, you will have to pay to have it copied.
